Trump spends his weekend tweeting his attacks on our basic institutions

Rain covered the DC area this weekend, preventing Trump from golfing at his local DC-area course.  Instead, he holed up in the White House, firing off tweet after tweet like a 14-year-old girl who just discovered her boyfriend is dating her best friend.

Let’s take a look into Donald Trump’s rapidly decaying mind. At this point the man is using every unsupervised moment to scream into the twitter-void; executive time seems to consist entirely of Donald Trump watching television, followed by Donald Trump screeching about something he saw on television. That’s when he’s not off visiting his own private for-profit businesses: That’s right, kids, he trooped off to the Trump International Hotel & Bribery Center again this weekend, though he was not able to play golf.

This weekend was, to use a term recently re-popularized by the White House, a particular shitshow. The man has grievances, and they all will be aired.

So many positive things going on for the U.S.A. and the Fake News Media just doesn’t want to go there. Same negative stories over and over again! No wonder the People no longer trust the media, whose approval ratings are correctly at their lowest levels in history!

Again: A sitting President of the United States continually and obsessively attacking the nation’s free press as fraudulent is not even a little bit normal. It would have been a major scandal in any other administration; it would have been evidence of instability, unfitness or worse. Republican lawmakers and the punditry alike are now insistent, however, on redefining the office to allow whatever egregious, lunatic behavior this one malignant narcissist pipes up with; if he wants to solicit cash payments from individuals who wish to chat with him during Mar-a-Lago weekends, that is allowed now; if he wants a goddamn parade of tanks trundling down Washington streets to show France the what-for, a parade of tanks it is.

He spent a subtweet on defending Rob Porter, who resigned last week after revelations that he had physically assaulted multiple ex-wives. This required Kellyanne Conway to troop off to the Sunday show circuit yet again to invent stories about how terribly “disturbed” President Biff here was by the revelations: Does this feel like a man who was “disturbed”?

Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?

He quoted at length a conservative hack who appeared on Fox News to declare Trump “vindicated” and “victimized by the Obama Administration”, re: the Russia investigation. fumed over the New York Times story of a Russian attempting to sell negative information about him to United States intelligence officials, and of coursefell hook, line and sinker for the latest fraudulent Fox-peddled story about Them Evil Democrats.

He defended his refusal to declassify the Democratic response to the now-infamous “Nunes memo”, somehow managing in the process to make himself look even duller:

The Democrats sent a very political and long response memo which they knew, because of sources and methods (and more), would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency. Told them to re-do and send back in proper form!

It was eleven pages. Eleven pages only counts as “long” if your regular reading consists of Denny’s menus and Junior Jumbles.

Oh, and he lied about DACA.

Republicans want to fix DACA far more than the Democrats do. The Dems had all three branches of government back in 2008-2011, and they decided not to do anything about DACA. They only want to use it as a campaign issue. Vote Republican!

Can you spot what’s wrong with this? Other than Donald’s apparent belief that the House, Senate and presidency count as the “three branches of government?” That’s right! DACA did not exist during that time period. It was first established in June, 2012, after years of Republican filibusters blocked attempts to revise immigration laws to better protect childhood arrivals. We’ll give Donnie a pity C- on this one; please review the materials, our dear frothing septuagenarian, and endeavor to do better next time.
